The Human Resources role type covers the full people leadership stack — not just CHRO. It spans Chief People Officer, CHRO, EVP People, SVP People, VP People, VP HR, VP Talent, Head of People, Senior Director People, and Director HR / Director People Operations seats, all classified at the executive tier.

The "People" rebrand of HR matters. At growth-stage technology companies, "Head of People" or "Chief People Officer" is the dominant title — and the seat carries the same exec scope as a CHRO at a Fortune 500 peer. The classifier treats CPO (people), CHRO, Head of People, and EVP People as the same tier signal regardless of which prefix the company prefers.

What falls outside this bucket: HR Business Partner (an IC role despite the prefix), HR Manager, HR Generalist, Talent Acquisition Coordinator, People Operations Specialist, and Compensation Analyst. The executive gate filters these before any role reaches your inbox.

How classification gets to this category

People-leadership classification follows the same multi-stage pipeline as every other role type, with HR-specific signals at three stages:

  1. Title recognition. "CHRO," "Chief People Officer," "VP People," "VP HR," "Head of People," and "Director of People Operations" are recognized directly. The lookup table reconciles the CHRO/CPO(people)/Head-of-People variants so all three resolve to the same role-type signal.
  2. Compensation threshold. $200K+ base is the exec-tier floor for this role type. Roles below this threshold in unambiguous People titles are flagged for manual review rather than auto-classified.
  3. JD signals for ambiguous cases. GPT reads the job description for org-wide vs. business-unit scope, headcount of the HR/People org reporting in, exec-team membership, and board exposure. A CHRO with a seat at the executive committee and direct CEO reporting carries a different tier signal than a "VP People" reporting into the CHRO. The classifier also has a negative filter: "HR Business Partner," "Senior HRBP," "HR Manager," "Talent Acquisition Manager," and "People Operations Manager" (sub-Director) are explicitly blocked from the executive gate.

How matching works for your search

Matching on CHRO/People is conjunctive. Every dimension you add narrows the result set rather than expanding it.

Example: select CHRO/People + Technology and your inbox shows People executive roles at SaaS and tech companies only — not every CHRO role on the platform, and not every Technology role regardless of function. You get the intersection.

Tier filtering works on top. If you want only VP-tier and above People roles — filtering out Director-tier for now — the seniority-tier setting does that cleanly. Or restrict to CXO-tier only to see pure CHRO and Chief People Officer seats. Each filter layer multiplies precision without requiring you to manually scan for noise.
