How classification gets to this category
Marketing role classification follows the same multi-stage pipeline as every other role type, with Marketing-specific signals at three stages:
- Title recognition. "CMO," "Chief Marketing Officer," "VP Marketing," "VP Growth," "Director of Brand," and "Head of Demand Gen" are recognized directly. The lookup table covers hundreds of Marketing title variants across B2B, consumer, and platform conventions.
- Compensation threshold. $200K+ base is the exec-tier floor for this role type. Roles below this threshold in unambiguous Marketing titles are flagged for manual review rather than auto-classified.
- JD signals for ambiguous cases. GPT reads the job description for budget ownership, team headcount, channel scope, and reporting line. A CMO reporting directly to the CEO carries a different tier signal than a "VP Marketing" reporting two levels below the CMO at a larger enterprise. Matching on CMO/Marketing is conjunctive. Every dimension you add narrows the result set rather than expanding it.
Example: select CMO/Marketing + Technology and your inbox shows Marketing executive roles at SaaS and tech companies only — not every CMO role on the platform, and not every Technology role regardless of function. You get the intersection.
Tier filtering works on top. If you want only VP-tier and above Marketing roles — filtering out Director-tier for now — the seniority-tier setting does that cleanly. Or restrict to CXO-tier only to see pure CMO seats and no VP/Director Marketing posts. Each filter layer multiplies precision without requiring you to manually scan for noise.
