The defining characteristic is that the role's primary KPI is bookings or revenue — whether that's new ARR, deal origination, or net revenue retention. BDR/SDR leadership at the Director tier qualifies when the JD confirms executive scope. Individual account executive rollups without leadership authority do not.

How classification gets to this category
Revenue role classification applies Finance-comparable signal logic, adapted for quota-bearing structures:
- Title recognition. "CRO," "Chief Revenue Officer," "CSO," "CCO," "VP Sales," "VP Revenue," and Director-tier revenue titles are all recognized. The lookup table covers the full revenue-side title vocabulary.
- Compensation structure signal. Revenue roles have heavy variable compensation. A $300K OTE with $150K base is a strong CRO-tier signal. $225K+ base targets VP Sales. - JD signals — quota ownership is decisive. Does the person own the number, or support someone who does? Quota ownership, team headcount (50+ sellers implies VP-tier, 200+ implies CRO-tier), and whether the role reports to the CEO or to another VP Sales are all weighed. Roles that are internally "Sales Ops" without revenue ownership are flagged separately.
