The Product Management role type is the full product leadership stack — not just CPO. It spans Chief Product Officer, EVP Product, SVP Product, VP Product, Head of Product, GM (Product P&L), Senior Director Product, and Director Product Management seats, all classified at the executive tier.
Director-tier Product is the largest single slice of this category. At growth-stage technology companies, a Director of Product owning a P&L line often has more decision authority than a VP Product at a later-stage peer with a narrower mandate. The classifier weighs P&L scope and reporting line, not the title prefix alone.
What falls outside: Senior Product Manager (typically an IC role at growth-stage companies), Product Owner, Associate PM, and Lead PM titles below the Director cutoff. The executive gate filters these before any role reaches your inbox.

How classification gets to this category
Product role classification follows the same multi-stage pipeline as every other role type, with Product-specific signals at three stages:
- Title recognition. "CPO," "Chief Product Officer," "VP Product," "Head of Product," and "Director of Product Management" are recognized directly. The lookup table covers hundreds of Product title variants — including the GM-of-Product pattern common at platform companies.
- Compensation threshold. $215K+ base is the exec-tier floor for this role type — slightly higher than Marketing because Product seats trend toward larger total comp at the same title level. Roles below this threshold in unambiguous Product titles are flagged for manual review rather than auto-classified.
- JD signals for ambiguous cases. GPT reads the job description for P&L ownership, engineering and design org reporting, board exposure for CPO-tier seats, and the "owns the product" vs. "manages a feature" distinction. The reporting line into CEO vs. into another product leader is a primary tier signal. See the AI Classification page for the full signal hierarchy.
The classifier also has a negative filter: "Senior Product Manager," "Product Owner," "Associate PM," "Lead PM" (when reporting into a Director), and "Product Marketing Manager" (which routes to Marketing) are explicitly blocked from the executive gate.
How matching works for your search
Matching on CPO/Product is conjunctive. Every dimension you add narrows the result set rather than expanding it.
Example: select CPO/Product + FinTech and your inbox shows Product executive roles at FinTech companies only — not every CPO role on the platform, and not every FinTech role regardless of function. You get the intersection.
Tier filtering works on top. If you want only VP-tier and above Product roles — filtering out Director-tier for now — the seniority-tier setting does that cleanly. Or restrict to CXO-tier only to see pure CPO seats and no VP/Director Product posts. Each filter layer multiplies precision without requiring you to manually scan for noise.
